Policy Focuses

Through public policy advocacy, MoCoPAAN's goal is to position Asian Americans as active, organized allies in the pursuit for racial equity and social justice.

Our Advocacy

MoCoPAAN's policy advocacy centers on three equity focus areas:

Previously a policy focus, Anti-Hate now undergirds all of our work.

​MoCoPAAN members provide written and oral testimony before state and county council lawmakers, write letters to support change in the public and private sectors, and sign on to coalition letters.

 

Appointed by the Montgomery County Council President to the county's anti-hate task force, MoCoPAAN led the Asian American Pacific Islander cohort.

 

We have also served on community advisory groups with Montgomery County Public Schools and Leadership Montgomery, and are frequently sought after to provide consultations to various county entities.

MoCoPAAN looks to improve structural access to education for students of all backgrounds.

MoCoPAAN defends all immigrants’ rights to dignity, safety, and due process, as well as their ability to thrive as essential parts of our local community.

MoCoPAAN works to ensure equitable access to government programs and services for Asian American communities across Montgomery County.

Archives

During the peak of Covid-19,    MoCoPAAN provided expertise on prevention and response to anti-Asian hate that associated the Asian American community with the virus and its restrictions.
