Anti-Hate

During the peak of Covid-19, MoCoPAAN provided expertise on prevention and response to anti-Asian hate that associated the Asian American community with the virus and its restrictions.

Appointed by the County Council President to the anti-hate task force, MoCoPAAN led the AAPI cohort, collecting member and county stakeholder feedback and proposing policy recommendations before the public, County Council, and County Executive. The county later established a site for the public to file online reports or call 311. MoCoPAAN also served on a state commission to address hate crimes.






MoCoPAAN supported middle school and high school students
who spoke out on systemic school issues that they felt needed to be addressed to improve their sense of safety. 

Often invited as a speaker, MoCoPAAN addressed diverse audiences ranging from schools to government agencies and community groups at presentations, vigils and media interviews across newspapers, radio, TV, cable and podcasts. 

MoCoPAAN organized groups around community-based educational and rehabilitative program for a hate perpetrator in a case and involved the county to de-escalate community fear.

A National Directory
of
Asian American Organizations

MoCoPAAN is a listed organization in the Asian Resource Hub - a searchable national directory that connects community members to Asian American and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander-serving organizations.  

 

Created by Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California and Asian Americans Advancing Justice - AAJC, the directory to provide organizations and community members access to valuable data and resources on the Asian American community, while also drawing attention to incidents of anti-Asian discrimination and hate.

 

Available also in Vietnamese (tiếng việt), Korean (한국말), Cantonese (粵語), and Mandarin (普通话).xt.
