Foster Youth Leadership
MoCoPAAN provides opportunities for the next generation of leaders to learn about the Asian American community and gain leadership and organizing skills.
How We Support
Asian American students have struggled for decades to get Asian American studies taught in K-12 schools and universities. They seek mentors among Asian American faculty and staff but encounter few.
Asian American student organizations need support — funding, faculty sponsors — as well as opportunities for extracurricular engagement.​​

To address this gap, MoCoPAAN has:
Sponsored post-college graduate fellowships and spoken with college students about careers in policy advocacy.​
Organized a field trip for three dozen high school students and teachers to D.C.'s Chinatown, exploring issues ranging from gentrification and racial justice activism to solidarity and voting.

Partnered with the Asian American Progressive Student Union, hosting political education retreats, providing high school students with internships, and supporting their leadership academy.
Partnership with AAPSU
Since 2021, MoCoPAAN has supported the advocacy and leadership of Montgomery County's Asian American Progressive Student Union (AAPSU).

We've collaborated on a number of projects, including:​

​A leadership retreat for the AAPSU Executive Board to learn about progressive Asian American history/values.

A semester-long internship program for two high schoolers to research and write a full-length feature article.
