Educational Equity

MoCoPAAN has been heavily involved in advocacy around education and educational equity across Montgomery County. 

Magnet Admissions Case: 

 

Speaking on the Montgomery County Magnet Schools Admission Case, board member Janelle Wong said the following: "Public schools exist to serve the entire community, including underserved Asian American students. As such, we strongly support efforts to increase access to magnet programs for students who have faced unfair barriers to educational resources, especially low-income students of color."

MoCoPAAN also helped contribute to the amicus brief filed by the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC, Latino Justice PRLDEF, and Ballard Spahr LLP, which can be accessed here

​We have fought to empower AAPIs in Academia, Public Policy, and through grassroots organizing at the National, State, and Local levels.
